About

A full ensemble from Leipzig. Founded in Costa Rica. United by the power of Latin American music.

One band. One story.

"One night in San José — a band born for Leipzig."

Curubandé Latin Band on stage

It all began with a single evening: musicians from the UniBigBand Leipzig performed at the Festival Internacional de las Artes in Costa Rica, sharing the stage with the country's Big Band to play "Pa' Curubandé yo voy" by Maestro Vinicio Meza. That night became the band's origin.

Since then, musicians from Costa Rica, Spain, Brazil, Cuba, and Germany have shared the stage in Leipzig. What unites them: not just the music, but a genuine love for Latin American culture — its energy, its traditions, its dance.

Curubandé isn't a project on paper. It's an ensemble of friends who invite their audience into a different world, every single night.

✦  A Personal Note

This project holds a very special place in my heart. Since the founding of Curubandé Latin Band in 2014, it has been a journey of learning, challenges, and great satisfaction. This whole journey has been possible thanks to the musical support of many talented friends, who together have helped shape this idea into what it is today. Now we all share this wonderful experience, and it is a joy to pass on the energy of our music to so many people. I am deeply grateful to every one of you!
